Red White & Bowl was so much fun!

As you know, Saturday was the 3rd annual Red White & Bowl. We had so much fun! Neon Union was great, and then after their set the guys did some bowling and didn't do so bad :).

Speaking of that...on the WQMX lane, Cherise & I lit things up!!! We bowled two games - the first game I bowled a 172, and in the second game Cherise bowled a 174!!! I won't speak for Cherise, but I believe that is the best game I have ever bowled in my life! We each won those respective games :). The sales staff we were bowling with now want us as subs for their team in the bowling league! HAHA.

If you went, THANK YOU and I hope you had as much fun as the WQMX staff did. See you next year!

SW small Logo Country has a long history of songs that bring listeners together from many formats that are just fun to listen to. These "guilty pleasures" songs you may love privately, but not really want to admit in front of a bunch of people with varying musical tastes at the bonfire.  This is the third week I'm featuring Guilty Pleasure Songs from the last 43 years I've been in Country Radio.  All of these songs were big hits during their time and run, so let's look back at a few this week.  Week 3 -  Guilty Pleasure Songs 2  -  Guilty Pleasure Songs 1

No Order...

I'm Gonna Miss Her  - Brad Paisley -  2002

Brad Paisley has a terrific sense of humor and has written a bunch of songs that have a humorous element to them. Being honest, some are funnier than others.  But, this is a gem that I have loved since the first time I heard it.  The opening line of this song is one of my favorite lines ever in a country song.  To me, is Paisley at his funny best. We all know he is a gifted guitar player and a highly versatile artist that has run off a long run of really great songs. I have loved many Paisley songs over his career, but as far as his "fun" songs are concerned this is my favorite, as it is everything that is good about a "I didn't see that coming" country song. His third number one song  -   Other Articles About Featuring Brad Paisley

Bubba Shot The Jukebox  - Mark Chesnutt -  1992

I feel he is one of the most underrated artists of the 1990's, and maybe ever.  After his amazing debut song with Too Cold At Home, this was a fun song.  It's the story of a love-sick good ol' boy who destroys a jukebox buy shooting it and there is no harm or foul that follows.  It was a very interesting release especially after his debut song that to me was a terrific debut song, that was the direct opposite of this.  As silly was this is and was, it showed great versatility of a wonderful new artist at the time, and was really fun then and even now.  Peaked at number 4 on the charts.  - My Chesnutt Profile

I'm Gonna Hire A Wino (To Decorate Our Home) -  David Frizell - 1982

You may not know this song, but it was a big hit.  David Frizell was in a very successful recording duo with Shelly West in the early 1980's, and they rolled off some very popular songs. They each went solo and both had a few hits. This was his biggest song and fans loved it.  It tells the story of a guy that comes home every weekend night from the bar after drinking way too much and his wife decides to "Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home" so he can just stay home and drink. Silly, yes, but a big number one in 1982.  It also was 3 minutes and 55 seconds, and then that was unheard of.  Country songs were way shorter as a rule.  I played this for years on stations across the country.

WYNN - Sleeping Is Not Easy?

SW small Logo Remember when sleeping was just that?  Sleeping!  We would just lay down and in a few minutes it was the next morning.  Well it seems for many, if not all of us, those glorious days are over.  So many things now affect our sleep, and almost all of it is self-inflicted.

I maybe the wrong person to ask for sleeping advice, I've been getting up at 230Am for the past 4 decades to do morning radio, and I sleep when I can, and many times when I need to.  But it you're normal on schedule, here is a very cool article to check out

Happy Paczki Day

Thursday was Paczki Day! YUM!!! Of course, I had to do my part in celebrating. A box of Paczki were in the lounge at the station when I got to work Thursday night with only two left! They were both Custard filled, so I took one to do my part marking the day. It was SO GOOD!

I just love an excuse to take part in an occasion that has such wonderful food. I'm surprised I was able to have the self control not to grab the other one too! You know, for quality control research purposes ;). LOL

If you enjoy Paczki I hope you had at least one and thoroughly enjoyed them!

Those Boots!

Maybe you have seen the Mario Bros. looking boots that have been popping up.  Check out Seth Rollins on The WWE

There was an art collective that put them together and it seems like influencers are trying to make them a Big Ol' Red thing.

If you want a pair of the 'Astro Boy' Red Boots they will cost you, starting at $350...

I think Big Red Cowboy Boots would be interesting. Just sayin.  Or Yosemite Sam Boots, that make your feet real tiny.  Those would be funny.

I think, I will pass on these.

Country on TV!

Late night TV hosted two country artists last night! Jordan Davis made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live ahead of the release of his new album Bluebird Days that will be available tonight at midnight. Nate Smith was the musical guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and sang his #1 debut single "Whiskey On You", which of course he will be singing at our SOLD OUT charity concert at the Dusty Armadillo on March, 23rd! (THANK YOU!!)

Tonight, you can set your DVR for CMT Storytellers, Kelsea Ballerini will be the first female to headline! She says, “Songwriting is my therapy, my haven, my best friend, and my exhale. It’s the purest part of what I do, and I am grateful to join a lineup of storytellers I’ve learned from as I tell mine.”

My wheels finally got a bath!

Once I saw the weather forecast for Wednesday this week, I knew I wanted to get my car washed. I'm not exactly sure of when the last one was and I knew it could use one.

I was out and about Wednesday afternoon and thought I'd at least drive by to see how bad the line was. I figured if it was horrendous, I'd get it washed on my way into work later in the evening.

To my very pleasant surprise there was only one other car at the wash! I was able to drive right up to the other lane and go right in. For a day at 65 degrees I was quite surprised! I feel so much better knowing my car is clean...at least for now. ;)

Wrasslin' Wednesday

You have probably noticed... When a Premium Event in the WWE happens on Saturday Night it's "Wrasslin' Wednesday".

Remember these are just my guesses.  If you are betting by all means this is just for fun!

Matches

Bobby Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar.

There is a lot of back and forth on this one with me.   I think Brock Lesnar will win.  Not sure why other than possibly getting 'The Hurt Business' back in the fold.

Edge and Beth Phoenix vs. The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley)

Dominik Mysterio is on borrowed time.  He needs some 'hardtime' off until they can set up a Rey/Dominik Match.  Rhea is starting to see Dom-Dom is an anchor

holding her down.  I think he will interfere in the match and end up losing it for The Judgement Day.

Elimination Chamber match for a Raw Women's Championship match at WrestleMania

Asuka vs. Carmella vs. Liv Morgan vs. Natalya vs. Nikki Cross vs. Raquel Rodriguez

This one is a coin flip.  I would have Liv Morgan or Asuka as the winner.   Taking on 'The E-S-T.. in L-A'....

Natalya seems to be getting a push, I can imagine Baszler and Rousey will pop-up somehow...

WWE United States Championship Elimination Chamber match

Austin Theory (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Johnny Gargano vs. Bronson Reed vs. Damian Priest vs. Montez Ford

I want Montez Ford to Win.  I think Austin Theory pulls it out and there will be a big name coming at him Monday Night and it won't be Seth Rollins.

Rollins will have his card set for Mania as Logan Paul gets involved enough in the match to keep Rollins from winning.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sami Zayn

This one has tons of possibility. Rhodes interfering, The Rock an equalizer, Kevin Owens interfering, Sami Wins and Roman and Solo vs The USO's, Rock Interferes and Roman Rock at Mania...  Sami and Rhodes Main Event....

I think Jey Uso helps Sami Uso but then turns to help 'The Tribal Chief'.  Which Kevin Owens comes to the rescue and sets the USO's vs Sami/KO.

Roman then can focus on Cody Rhodes.

My Favorite Super Bowl Commercial!

I love the Super Bowl. The game, the halftime show, the music, and of course the commercials. It's my favorite part every year. And after sitting on it for a few days, this is definitely my favorite commercial this year:

This was my favorite for so many reasons. If you're not aware, Ben Afflack and Dunkin is kind of a meme at this point. Ben and Jennifer Lopez are also one of my favorite celebrity couples right now, and the whole ad is a sweet surprise for all of those customers. It's sweet, short, and funny all at once. Love it!
