The regular season is right around the corner

Baseball's regular season is right around the corner - getting underway in about a month. The Guardians' home opener is April 8th, and I mentioned in the Sports Roundup last night that for the 31st consecutive season the game is sold out!

That means that every home opener at Progressive Field/Jacobs Field has sold out. The last time the opener was NOT sold out for the then-Indians, they shared Cleveland Municipal Stadium with the Browns! That is a great milestone of achievement as fans. Now, let's hope we can keep those numbers up and have a reason to keep those numbers up because the Guards have a great season! Fingers Crossed!

Such a fun way to spend a Saturday evening!

Late Saturday afternoon, I met my mom at the laundromat. We both had a TON of stuff to wash - and big things too. I needed to wash the comforter from my bed (Buttercup had some spit-up one morning), and I wanted to wash several blankets from my house as well. My mom had the same situation, plus our regular laundry too. We figured why not get it all done at one time and much quicker too?!

In total we were there between 2 and 2 1/2 hours. It actually went by pretty fast, just not my ideal way to spend a late Saturday afternoon. LOL

Two more days to win!

Be listening to me tonight and tomorrow night for your final 2 chances to win a family 4 pack of tickets to the Cleveland Auto Show at the I-X Center! The show runs this Friday (February 23rd) through Sunday March 3rd.

It's a great time to go look at cars if you are into cars, are looking for a new car to see what is out there, or maybe look at cars you'd never be able to afford and just dream for a little bit ;). No matter what your reason for going is, I have your final 2 chances to win tickets tonight and tomorrow at 8:15 with the Not-So Impossible Question.

Listen tonight during the New @ 9!

Tune into the New @ 9 tonight as we are going to play Keep it Or Kick it with Josh Ross' new single "Single Again" off of his album "Complicated". Cherise played it during the Country Cafe, and now you'll hear it again this evening with the chance to vote - do we add it to rotation, or file it under "T" for trash?

As always, listen for me to play the song all the way through and then you can vote by sending me a text or giving me a call at 330-370-2000. You'll have until 9:45 to vote and then results come at about 9:50. Let's see what you think of the new Josh Ross single. This really is a way you can help us pick you music you hear on 94.9 WQMX!

This would be quite the trip!

If you have ever wanted an excuse to travel to Africa - I may just have it. Coming up at the end of October, there is going to be the first ever Capetown Country Festival in Capetown, South Africa!

Acts scheduled to perform include: Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Brothers Osborne, Kip Moore, Craig Morgan and many more! It'll be a 2 day festival - the first of it's kind in Africa! Combine that with a safari and that sounds like an amazing getaway!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

This is a picture of me at about 6 months old with my grandparents (my dad's parents). I am showing this picture because today would have been my Grandpa's 108th birthday! Yes, he was born Feb. 16, 1916. It has always kinda blown my mind to think about the changes he saw in life before he died at 90 in the Summer of 2006.

He was born LESS than 4 years after the Titanic sank! He was born DURING World War I, and during the Woodrow Wilson administration. When my Grandpa was born, the most common car on the road was a Model T Ford - 55% of the cars on the road at the time were a Model T. THAT'S provided people had a car, as horse and buggy were still commonplace. Movies were all silent, outside of town most everyone used outhouses still. Women did not have the right to vote yet! I could go on but you get the idea.

What blows my mind even more, is that my Great Grandparents (Grandpa's parents) were born in the 1870's! Only about 10 years after the Civil War! That is thanks to 3 generations of later life babies :) lol. As I mentioned above, my Grandpa died in 2006 at the age of 90. He had gotten pretty frail by that point, but his mind was still sharp. In my early years, he taught me how to play Solitaire and I loved playing board games with both him and my Grandma. When I was 12, I even "DJ'd" their 50th wedding anniversary party. It was me playing songs from my cd collection on my boombox that you couldn't even hear 5 feet away! lol. It was pathetic! Anyway, happy birthday Grandpa!

Play Ball!

As I mentioned in the Sports Roundup recently, the Guardians had yet to decide what time opening day first pitch would be due to the total solar eclipse happening that day. We now have our answer.

First pitch for the Guardians 2024 home opener against the Chicago White Sox will be at 5:10. Gates at Progressive Field will open at 2:00 that afternoon. Not only that, tomorrow (Friday) is 216 day - so single game tickets for the season go on sale at 10AM!

Hopefully this will be an exciting year of Guards baseball!!

Happy Valentine's Day

First, Happy Valentine's Day. I know this is a day for couples, but if you are like me and single...don't worry. You have friends and family that love you. This can also be a great day for self care. Do what you enjoy! Treat yourself! Whether that is a nice dinner, a movie, a walk or run. Whatever you enjoy - spend time doing that activity. Just because you don't have a significant other doesn't mean you are "alone".

Do what brings you joy today, and you will find that you are happy no matter what :)

Time to say goodbye

If you are a fan of American Idol and the lineup of the judges, enjoy this season. Katy Perry announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live that this will be her final season as a judge on the show.

Not only that, it sounds like she hadn't EXACTLY broken the news to Ryan Seacrest, Lionel Richie, or Luke Bryan yet. Her answer when asked by Kimmel how they took it was "I guess they'll find out tonight." So it sounds like they knew something was up and that she wanted to make some sort of plans for herself, just not that she would be leaving the show!

Again, if you enjoy watching American Idol, you have the rest of this season to savor the show as is and then we will see who becomes the next judge to sit alongside Lionel and Luke.
