I did it

In hindsight I should have done this yesterday too, but today I did it - broke out the shorts and sandals! I think this is the earliest I have ever done least since college. It was just too nice and warm earlier today before the rain came not to.

I also opened up the windows at home for a couple hours to get some fresh air in, espcially for Buttercup who doesn't go outside. It felt so nice to have things open and wear warmer-weather clothes for a change rather than be bundled up in a hoodie and under a blanket.

As I write this, the temperature outside is already down from 73 earlier to 63 and will continue to fall. That said, this will be a one-day thing for right now. Thankfully the days of shorts and sandals everyday are not far off in the future!

Mark on your calendar!

If you are a big fan of Garth Brooks and/or Trisha Yearwood you will want to watch Good Morning America later this week! Robin Roberts will be doing a sit down interview with BOTH Garth & Trisha from Nashville this Thursday morning on GMA.

What all will be discussed? Who knows? But I'm sure they will touch on Garth's Las Vegas residency - which by the way, WQMX is qualifying you to fly out to Vegas to check out Garth's residency at Caesars Palace. So catch the interview on GMA Thursday morning, and listen to WQMX the rest of the week for your chance to qualify to see Garth Brooks in Las Vegas!

Welcome to Spring! (Unofficially)

Today is March 1st - The unofficial first day of Spring! Today begins Meteorological Spring which runs March, April, and May.

I would say that Spring is my 2nd favorite season. The first reason is that my birthday is in April. Secondly, the days really start to get longer (can we just make Daylight Savings Time permanent already?). Lastly, I like the reality that days are getting warmer and we still have all of Summer to look forward to, and not back at.

Either way it's Friday. So whether you're like me and celebrating the start of Spring, or's the start of the weekend. Be happy about that!

Happy Leap Day!

This is the day that comes around only once every 4 years - February 29th! How are you going to celebrate the day? Do you celebrate the day? I don't think there is any guidance on that. My suggestion is to celebrate by doing what the day's name suggests - jump up and down a bunch of times. HAHA

How many times? Maybe 29. Enjoy the day - and if you happen to have a birthday on February 29th...I'm sorry - unless you enjoy the notoriety.

Jason Aldean's another year older

Happy 47th birthday to WQMX artist Jason Aldean! To celebrate, tonight at 9:00 on the New @ 9 Rick Allen will be featuring Jason's debut single from 2005 "Hicktown" off of his self-titled debut album.

He's had many hits since (and several #1's) but we will take a look back at how it all began. Be here tonight at 9:00 on WQMX!

The regular season is right around the corner

Baseball's regular season is right around the corner - getting underway in about a month. The Guardians' home opener is April 8th, and I mentioned in the Sports Roundup last night that for the 31st consecutive season the game is sold out!

That means that every home opener at Progressive Field/Jacobs Field has sold out. The last time the opener was NOT sold out for the then-Indians, they shared Cleveland Municipal Stadium with the Browns! That is a great milestone of achievement as fans. Now, let's hope we can keep those numbers up and have a reason to keep those numbers up because the Guards have a great season! Fingers Crossed!

Such a fun way to spend a Saturday evening!

Late Saturday afternoon, I met my mom at the laundromat. We both had a TON of stuff to wash - and big things too. I needed to wash the comforter from my bed (Buttercup had some spit-up one morning), and I wanted to wash several blankets from my house as well. My mom had the same situation, plus our regular laundry too. We figured why not get it all done at one time and much quicker too?!

In total we were there between 2 and 2 1/2 hours. It actually went by pretty fast, just not my ideal way to spend a late Saturday afternoon. LOL

Two more days to win!

Be listening to me tonight and tomorrow night for your final 2 chances to win a family 4 pack of tickets to the Cleveland Auto Show at the I-X Center! The show runs this Friday (February 23rd) through Sunday March 3rd.

It's a great time to go look at cars if you are into cars, are looking for a new car to see what is out there, or maybe look at cars you'd never be able to afford and just dream for a little bit ;). No matter what your reason for going is, I have your final 2 chances to win tickets tonight and tomorrow at 8:15 with the Not-So Impossible Question.

Listen tonight during the New @ 9!

Tune into the New @ 9 tonight as we are going to play Keep it Or Kick it with Josh Ross' new single "Single Again" off of his album "Complicated". Cherise played it during the Country Cafe, and now you'll hear it again this evening with the chance to vote - do we add it to rotation, or file it under "T" for trash?

As always, listen for me to play the song all the way through and then you can vote by sending me a text or giving me a call at 330-370-2000. You'll have until 9:45 to vote and then results come at about 9:50. Let's see what you think of the new Josh Ross single. This really is a way you can help us pick you music you hear on 94.9 WQMX!

This would be quite the trip!

If you have ever wanted an excuse to travel to Africa - I may just have it. Coming up at the end of October, there is going to be the first ever Capetown Country Festival in Capetown, South Africa!

Acts scheduled to perform include: Zac Brown Band, Darius Rucker, Brothers Osborne, Kip Moore, Craig Morgan and many more! It'll be a 2 day festival - the first of it's kind in Africa! Combine that with a safari and that sounds like an amazing getaway!
