Today is Teacher Appreciation Day and this week is also Teacher Appreciation Week.

It got me to thinking about some of my favorite teachers, and there are many. One sticks out. Mrs. Mathues, my 3^rd grade teacher from Hartville Elementary. She got me to like going to school. Up to that point, I was not so sure about it. Ha! She made learning cursive and multiplication so fun. We did so many crafts, made landfills out of 2 liters, made recycled paper, did spelling test on our desks with shaving cream, learned about endangered animals, made a class weaving- that I won to keep and still have to this day, and we made a book of memories throughout the year that I also still have. I also remember she would drink pickle juice. Odd, but so cool to a 9-year-old!

My memories are so vivid of this school, partly because of this memory book and mainly because Mrs. Mathues was an incredible teacher who made this girl excited to go to school everyday. Thank you and thank you to all the teachers out there for the great job you do!

Rodney Atkins’ new album, Caught Up in the Country this Friday. The 12 track album is the first new project he has released since 2011’s Take A Back Road. It features the title track Caught Up in the Country and a couple songs co-written with his wife Rose Falcon. The couple announced earlier this year they are expecting their second child together.

Carrie Underwood's 3 year-old son Isaiah attended the opening weekend of her Cry Pretty 360 tour. This is the first tour he is old enough to remember and any time she would come close to where he was sitting during the show he would yell out , "Mommy, I love you!"
Super sweet! People are calling Carrie’s Cry Pretty 360 tour- stunning, and she will make a stop in Cleveland on October 16th.

Tenille Arts has released her next single "Call You Names", which the Canadian singer-songwriter co-wrote. The song holds a special meaning to Tenille, it was written about her and her mother, but listen to the words because you may find this song very relatable. She recently released the video which features mothers and daughters, as well as Tenille's mom making her video debut. It's a visual celebration and apprecation for mom.

Shopping local is important to me and we have so many hidden gems around town.

Over the weekend, I went shopping and had lunch for an early Mother’s Day celebration with my mom and sister. One of our must stops whenever we get together is Gloria Jeans Heartfelt Treasures in Canton. It is located on Middlebranch Ave. in a quaint little house and it is filled with all the things you need for your house! Antiques, furniture, home goods and more is what you find.

I have a custom pink painted dresser, a vanity, picture frames, countless decorations and now this fantastic charcuterie and cheese picture that I got this weekend. This store is perfect to find any gift, especially for Mother’s Day coming up this weekend. Jalonda is the owner and she is lovely. You will walk away from this store with a smile on your face and a treasure for your home!
