Best one yet?

Lainey Wilson's next album, titled Whirlwind, comes out August 23. That's a little more than a month away at this point, and to hold us over and continue building the excitement for the big drop, she's released a couple singles.

First, it was "Country's Cool Again," a grooving track that's fun from start to finish. It'll get your toes tapping.

Next was "Hang Tight Honey," her latest song we're spinning on WQMX. It's a bop! The powerfully sung lyrics tell her story of rising to stardom and finding success after putting in the work to get there. It's got something of a rock and roll sound with a sweet guitar part, acapella chorus, and moving drum beat all mixed in with her Louisianan flair.

Most recently, she dropped "4x4xU," on the 4th of July. You might remember her playing that song early for us at The Country Fest this year, and it was at that time I knew I liked it. Now, listening to the studio version- I love it! This track further proves her rightful belonging at the top of the heap in new country music. It's exactly what I want from Lainey.

Whether or not you're digging this one as much as me, based off it, I think we can all agree; Lainey Wilson can SING! I didn't think it was possible to top Bell Bottom Country... but she just might. Stay tuned and we'll be sure to touch back on the upcoming Whirlwind album here through the next few weeks at your new music headquarters: Your Country! 94.9 WQMX.

Lainey Wilson Rolls On

Lainey Wilson was just at The Country Fest and The Rolling Stones were just at Cleveland Browns Stadium, now, they will be playing a show together! Even though Lainey is a small town country girl, the magnitude of this moment isn't lost on her. "I am getting to play a show with the Rolling Stones. Yeah, they gonna have to roll me up outta there because that is, that is absolutely insane. I got to see them, I think it was 2016 or 17 down here at the stadium. I can't believe I'm getting to share a stage with them. Mick Jagger is gonna show me some new moves."

Lainey will open for The Rolling Stones on June 30th at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Congratulations Lainey!

Lainey Wilson performed her new song, "Hang Tight Honey" on the finale of The Voice last night, and after that performance Reba McEntire had a surprise for the ACM Entertainer of the Year.

The Voice host Carson Daly invited Lainey to the front of the stage for a quick chat, but Reba quickly hijacked the conversation by opening a small black box, that held Lainey's official invitation to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Fortunately her family was in the audience to witness the magical milestone and there were, of course, tears.

Lainey made her Opry debut on Valentine's Day of 2020. Her induction will take place June 7th during CMA Fest.

Congratulations Lainey! We can't wait to see you at The Country Fest!

Is this the sign she's made it big?

We love Lainey Wilson here at WQMX and cheer her on through all her accomplishments. She's had the wind at her back in scooping-up awards, partnering with big brands like Levi's, appearing everywhere from talk shows to Yellowstone, and blowing the roof off of every venue at which she performs. To say we're excited to have her at The Country Fest 2024 is a total understatement.

With that, something new has come up for Lainey; she's opening her own bar! That's right- she's teamed up with the same organization behind the bars of Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, and Morgan Wallen to open her own downtown Nashville destination. T.C. Restuarant Group is planning on the hot spot to be at the location formerly occupied by FGL House.

That seems sensible to me. It should be relatively quick and easy to redo the place in Lainey's vision. One of the toughest parts, I bet, is figuring out what she'll want to call the place.

So, here's where I'll throw it to you! What do you think Lainey's bar should be called?

Thanks for reading this blog and for listening to Your Country! 94.9 WQMX.
