Christmas is my favorite holiday for many reasons. One of those reasons is the food. Yes, the cookies, but the real reason is the cabbage rolls. My mother's famous cabbage rolls.

She only makes them at Christmas because they are quite the undertaking. She buys 8 to 10 heads of cabbage, boils them, makes the meat concoction- which I am clueless about, then starts rolling. There is also this magic tomato based sauce she bathes them in.

They are incredible. INCREDIBLE. No one makes them like my mama. I eat them for days.
