Grocery Shopping For My Parents

Written by

My parents are 70 and 71 and my dad has COPD. They are grounded to the house during this pandemic. Yes, they could go grocery shopping during the restricted hours, but we decided that I would do their shopping for them until this was all over. Or rather, I told them they could not leave the house and I would do it for them.

They gave me life, it is the least I could do. So, they make a list and I do the shopping and drop the groceries off in the garage or entry way and wave, maybe chat for a few and then I am on my way. I miss them, I miss hugging them, but I am doing what is best. I help when I can.

When I am shopping, I see so many people that remind me of my parents or even people who are older. They are out shopping at all times of the day. I wonder and think they must not have anyone that can shop for them. Think about your parents, friends and neighbors- do they need your help? Could you be lending a hand? Could you grab them some groceries while you are out?

We keep saying, we will get through this together, so let's help each other do just that. When and if you can- help.
