Happy Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!

Written by

Today is Ugly Christmas Sweater Day and I am big fan! I do the 12 Kays of Christmas easy year where I wear 12 fun sweaters each day. They are more cute and funny than ugly, but I digress.

This got me to thinking- how did the Ugly Christmas sweater get started and the party idea get going? A simply Google search opened my eyes. These sweaters have been around since the 1950s. Their popularity died down in the 1980s and they say Mark Darcy's character in the Bridget Jones movie helped bring them back to the forefront. Then two guys in Vancouver, Canada are credited with coming up with and having the very first Ugly Christmas Party in the 2000s. The rest you can fill in!

So there you have the brief history of the Ugly Christmas Sweater. I love them! I am sharing a picture from last week's Ugly Christmas Sweater Party here at the station house.

Merry, merry!
