When to Pumpkin or Not?

David from Norton asked when is the best time to buy pumpkins for Halloween?

I usually buy them once the weather cools off.   If it is warm, in my opinion, the pumpkins do not last as long...  There are other factors that go into the length of a pumpkins life span.

Pumpkins last eight to 12 weeks after they are picked, so it'll stay fresh once you pick it up. This is out of the hot sun and freezing temps. (these are also uncarved)

As to carved pumpkins: They can last as little as a few days, so keep that in mind if you want to display your carved masterpiece on Halloween night.

And if you are Pumpkin Chunkin - your pumpkin doesn't have a chance.

Happy Decorating and Keep listening to win W-Boo-MX Fun... Tickets, Haunted Houses, Fall Fests, Pumpkin Patches and more...

Teacher's Day!

To all the Teacher's, you deserve the world building our youth... minds, body and spirit.
I loved school!  Basically, because I lived in the middle of nowhere and it was the only way that I got to see friends.

My teachers were a trip looking back.  The Late Eileen Rensel was a stickler.  I had her in 7th and 10th Grade.  She taught English and before you could enter her room.  You had to look her in the eye, shake her hand with the correct pressure and say "May I enter the classroom and be seated."  There were a lot of students who barely made it into the classroom after 3 or 4 tries after going to the back of the line.   It definitely is something that stuck with me.  Her public speaking portion of her class was top notch also.  She was one of the best.

I also had a History Teacher, Mr. Shade.  He was nuts.  For our review days... He would sit in the front of the room in a chair on a table with a catchers mask on.  Students who answered questions correctly would get to throw a tennis ball at him from the back of the room.  The Valedictorian and everyone were warming up before that class!  Talk about a reason to retain information.

Mr. Leiber, Mr. Varner and many more have stuck with me thru the years.

Being Teacher Day remember some of your favorites...  I Thank All The Teachers!!!!   You are very important and thank you for all you do... I hope you get all the apples and the raises you deserve.  Thank you.

Life of Boots

Life is like a series of boots for me...

Get a pair and a number of years later they become these yard boots and then they become no more.

It is sad for me when a pair of these boots is retired.

They start off at various events, jobs, numerous projects around the house, concerts, life moments, really everything.

Then as if those weren't big enough... These same boots get demoted to Yard Boots where they walk many miles mowing the yard for family events, reunions, birthday parties for the kids, weddings, cookouts, camping, fires, chasing after the dogs, planting a garden or working in the garage...

These boots maybe stained green, smell, fall apart, have holes, just look horrible... but these boots have seen somethings - miles, memories and just life.  I had to put this pair down after a long run.  Hopefully you have a good pair of these boots and are making memories in yours.

Frequent Question

Recently, I have been asked a number of great questions...

How old are you? (How old do I sound?)

Do you take suggestions for The Throwback Song Of The Day? (Yes)

Today, I was asked "Ben, why do you not do contests to kick off your show?"

Well, I do contests in the 3 o clock hour, just not right out of the gate...  I could say it's because I am getting ready for "The Throwback."

Mainly, it is because parents and kids in pick-up lines at school, drop off for sports, just the commute home...  I'd rather keep everyone safe.

Trust me, I still get calls "Did I miss the sounder?"  Thinking they missed it while picking up children.

My son's school at the end of the day it is hectic.  Walkers, Car Riders, maybe Bus riders depending on the school district.

I realize that I cannot get everyone's schedules correct.   But the after school crowd on the way to some destination with kids...

I'd rather be that sound to let everyone decompress to with all 'your country', while parents find out how the day was for their children.

Again I do have contests in the 3 o clock hour just not before the Throwback Song Of The Day at 3:20...

And hit me up at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or after 3pm M-F on the The Cricket Wireless Studioline 330-370-2000 I can get you set up with a Throwback.

Talk Like A Pirate Day

Get ready for the "Ahoy's", "Shiver Me Timbers", "Matey" and "Scallywag"....

Tomorrow is Talk Like A Pirate Day...  My Family is so happy the day has finally arrived.   I have been talking like a pirate for about 4 or 5 days now practicing.   I am a method actor pirate.... So you can imagine the frustration of my family living on the high-seas with a pirate talking matey like me.

I believe my son's exact words were "Can you stop!  "Yar" pirate talk is terrible."   Haha!  He gets it honestly.  Enjoy the fun tomorrow!  "Yar" welcome for the reminder.
