Caring for children can be tough at times for parents, but it can be an even bigger challenge for Grandparents and other family members that try to step up to care for the kids of a family member that isn't able, for whatever the reason.

The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has many resources available to help these families adjust and grow in healthy ways, including the statewide "Kinship and Adoption Navigator Program" that should launch next year.

The current site has a wealth of information for those that may be caring for the child or children of a family member, as well as for those that may be interested in helping children that may be in a situation where the biological parent is unable to properly care for them.  The state estimates that there are near 100,000 grandparents and other family members caring for children.
