WYNN - Forgotten Jukebox S-42

Mama Knows - Shenandoah - 1988 -  (Album - The Road Not Taken)

SW small Logo This song to me, is simply terrific.  This was a big hit, #5, but listeners loved this song.  The neo-traditionalist movement was just starting, and here come a bunch of nice boys singing a traditional country song about how great mom is.  This was a can't miss, This was not their first single, it was their fourth.  It also did not end up being their biggest hit.  This was on their second album, after their first really got no traction. At the time this was their biggest song, but a bunch of number ones would follow and this was the song that launched them to much better times.  This song is wonderfully written with some really slick harmonies and landed in the perfect hands.  This is a song that makes you feel good and for me, is one I have to hear till it ends, even if it means driving around the block a time or two. Perfect song for this!

Hat Guy!

I know there are Sneaker Heads out there, who stock up on kicks...

I'm a Hat Head...  You probably have noticed I'm a hat guy.

There aren't many times you will catch me without a hat and if so it's probably pretty close by.

Thomas Rhett really made me jealous this week posting his Tour Hats.  (below)

Joe Diffie - A Night To Remember - 1999

SW small Logo The late Joe Diffie is an exceedingly underappreciated country star.   Make no mistake he was a big star in a huge decade, as the original traditionalist mullet music man breaking through in 1990.  I still love to hear him sing a country song. This song for me was his very best, among the list of hits that he ran off was impressive.  Many of his songs were lighthearted and fun, but I really think he shined the brightest when he did real traditional stuff like this. This went to number six on the charts and should have been a number one, as it was one of the most played country songs on radio for 1999, and hit number 35 on the pop charts.  The fact you don't hear this song, or him much anymore is sad as we don't have many songs like this recorded right now.  The trend lately is to strike out in anger and that's fine. We don't hurt much these days, we get mad and get even in songs.  But hearing Diffie sing a real powerful hurtin' number like this is refreshing and reminds us of all the different kinds of country there is.  A solid Top 20 on my list!

Last Week #21

Not sure about this one either

Yesterday I talked about the mustard Skittles. Today, I feel I must talk about the Frosty Cold Brew at Wendy's. In all fairness and full disclosure, I do not drink coffee. I like the smell but cannot stand the taste. I'm sure if you DO drink coffee though, this will probably be a win!

I mean...C'MON it's a Wendy's Frosty! I am all for dipping your fries in the Frosty..YUM!!! Since I think dipping fries in the Frosty is so delicious, I am going to assume this combination is just as good until I hear otherwise. If you decide to try it I hope you like it!

WYNN - My Sunday Morning Song!

SW small Logo   When Morgan Wallen first came out, I loved Up Down and some of his early releases.  I loved his newer mullet image and it was soon clear that he was insanely popular.  He's a musical hero to a new fan base.  There has been some Wallen songs that have been extremely popular since and he was broken attendance and chart records all the while. Full disclosure, some of his songs have missed with me, not because they aren't good, I'm just not sure what format they are at times.  But that's a newer phenomenon in music in general, fans are more wide open to all genres than ever before because of their own playlists and shuffles.  But this new Wallen song to me is simply terrific. It has that Johnny Cash steady beat to open and the Waylon steel work, drive, subject matter and overall feel both of which are total throwbacks, but it sounds like today all at the same time. It zips along well and is just fun to listen to. One of the real points of beauty of this song, is when you first hear it come on, it's captivating and you have to listen. So grab a coffee and earbuds and check it out!
