I took a weekend road trip!

Here at WQMX, we had this past Friday off for Easter weekend. I decided that my mom and I needed to take a trip to my vacation house in the Tennessee Smokies to get a look at a few things that had been brought to our attention. Thankfully they were pretty minor things - replacing shower heads, a little touch up painting, some cleaning in the kitchen and game room, etc. Luckily I took Monday off as well! We had to make a couple trips to the hardware store to get a second color of paint after we realized one room was a different color from others we were painting.

With the extra day we wern't as rushed to get everything done, and it gave us time to play a round of mini golf and get dinner at my favorite BBQ place there on Sunday (which was my birthday)! The thing now is, we left Tennessee at 10am Monday and I'm at work Monday night, lol! Am I crazy? haha. Hopefully tonight won't be a complete trainwreck for me...fingers crossed!

Have a very Mario Monday!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I got to see The Super Mario Bros. Movie Thursday night and it was absolutely fantastic. If you take anything away from this post, I hope it's "GO SEE THE NEW MARIO MOVIE!!! " But Nintendo fans know that there was already a Mario Bros film out there, something far more sinister. So I also watched Super Mario Bros with Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo, and boy howdy, there sure is a difference.

There's something so jarring about watching a film by two directors who had only ever played mario games while filming, vs one with so much love and care put into each detail even the font makes you nostalgic. but the old movie strikes nostalgia in my heart in a very different way, so although I would recommend Mario 2023 over Mario 1993, I'd also say that the old mario movie is at least worth a watch to laugh at, or admire some good acting under very trying circumstances. Both sets of brothers from Brooklyn are absolutely brilliant.

Beach Boys Grammy Salute

I can't remember who my first concert was actually...   It was either the Oakridge Boys, Huey Lewis & The News or The Beach Boys.  But it was one of them....

The beach boys had sooo many hits..  Some of our Country Artists belted out Beach Boy's Songs in Tribute last night for the Grammy's Salute to the Group.

The show was actually shot the same week as The Grammy Awards in February.

Little Big Town sang Help Me Rhonda

LeAnne Rimes - Caroline, No

and Lady A sang Surfer Girl.

Here is the Preview for the show...

Brothers Osborne recently shared three new songs on social media, and their next single at country radip is “Nobody’s Nobody"! The three new tracks are part of a soon to be announced project from Brothers Osborne, no other details yet, but we will keep you updated.

TJ Osborne said of their new single, “So, ‘Nobody’s Nobody’ was really inspired just by us thinking, ‘You know what? I don’t care who you are or what you do, we all have our differences and we sometimes get on each other’s nerves, but you still are somebody. Everyone is someone in this world and it takes literally every one of us to make it go around.’ So, ‘Nobody’s Nobody’ was inspired by that.”

Here are the 10 new tracks, I can't get enough of right now.  In no certain order.

Happy Home Opener!!!

Since I have Friday off, I figured I'd write this as close as possible to the actual game. Friday is the Guards' home opener for 2023. First pitch is set for 4:10 against Seattle with Aaron Civale starting for Cleveland and Logan Gilbert getting the start for Seattle. As of NOW, the weather looks like partly to mostly cloudy and a high near 50 on Friday. So as far as weather goes we've had better and we've had worse.

Something intersting this year, is that it's the 30th opening day at Progressive Field. The first one for the stadium known then as Jacobs Field was on April 4, 1994, against...SEATTLE! That is kinda cool that we are opening the 30th season in the stadium against the same team we played our first game there. We beat Seattle 4-3 in 11 innings in front of a sold out crowd of 41,459. Let's hope our fortunes repeat this Friday.

Something personal about that day back in 1994 -  My dad was at that game with people from work. He got a cool memonto of a framed ticket with a picture of a filled stadium taken from the air.

Go Guards!

WYNN - Forgotten Jukebox A-35

Baby I Lied – Deborah Allen - 1983 - (Album - Cheat The Night)

SW small Logo Deborah Allen had few songs on the country charts that charted well in her career that she recorded. But she wrote a ton of really big songs for others, and has been recognized as one of the most influential women in country.  But this song is all hers  -  and it's a gem.  In 1983, it's hard to effectively communicate just how different this song was on the radio.  It was cool, slick, rockin' -  in short it was amazingly different, everyone loved it, and it further opened more doors for her.  This was still the era of Urban Cowboy, vanilla pop country, and we were still playing singles from George Jones, Conway, Loretta, Crystal Gayle and the like.  This song in its arrangement, its feel and sound captured you the second it came on the radio and you had to listen.  It was a big #4 hit and crossed over to pop as it should have.  Her performance on it is incredible and cut through -  and halfway through it, you wanted to hear it again.  This song was way, way ahead of its time, and I have always wondered how this ever fell from our ears.  A big hit, from a great artist. Catch this one too - I've Been Wrong Before -  the follow up single - #1

Pet parents beware!

Attention if you have cats that go/are outside or small dogs (and small kids too)! I was on my way home from work Monday morning around 5:45 or 6:00. I was getting close to home and off to the right in the grass, I saw an animal. I took a better look...it was a Coyote!!!! Keep in mind, I live in Cuyahoga Falls. Not out near Blossom or the valley, but near Route 8! This was right in the middle of a neighborhood (near Oakwood Dr. & 6th St.).

That said, if you have pets that go outside or young kids, be watching them! I know we have Coyotes around here but I had yet to actually see one in a neighborhood. Please please be mindful of your furry friends, especially if they happen to be of the smaller stature. I would hate to hear of something happening. :( <3
