Is the Vice President of Operations for Rubber City Radio Group’s 4 stations, WQMX Program Director & part of the Morning Show on WQMX
In a business that often requires relocation, Sue considers herself fortunate to have been able to spend her radio career in the area she was born and raised.
Sue joined WQMX in December of 2006 as Program Director and one year later, joined Scott Wynn on the WQMX Morning show. Wynn and Wilson in the Morning has been nominated for 3 ACM awards, and was the recipient of the CRB Personality of the Year in 2013.
Sue has been an award winning programmer in multiple formats since 1988 with experience in Pop, Adult Contemporary, Christian, Adult Standards, Oldies, Smooth Jazz and Country, programming Cleveland stations WDOK, WRMR and The Fish to name a few. Sue also spent two years with McVay Media working with stations around the country as a radio format consultant. A professional voice-over artist, Sue’s voice can be heard imaging radio stations around the country, as well as on several local and national commercials through her voice company Sue Wilson Creative.
Long-time country radio listeners in Akron may remember Sue’s late husband, Phil Cordle, who worked at the legendary country station WSLR 1350/AM for many years. Sue found more than a new job when she started working at WQMX. She met her future husband, Tim Daugherty. Tim and Sue share a commonality in that they both lost their spouses to cancer. As co-workers and friends first, their friendship slowly evolved. Tim has been at sister station WONE for over 20 years, and is currently WONE’s program director and on air personality.
