country pet rescue

Thursday mornings at 8:40, the WQMX Wynn and Wilson morning show welcomes GeorjetteThomas from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue.

She tells us about some special animals that need a home. It's our goal to not only find a home for our featured homeless pet, but to educate and encourage animal adoption in our area.

Although we feature mostly dogs on this site, there are many wonderful cats available at One Of A Kind Pets too.

True to its name, One Of A Kind is truly a one of a kind place with a special mission. They not only rescue animals off the street, but they also go to "the pound" and rescue animals who are about to be euthanized. They literally save these animals from certain death.
You can visit their adoption center located at 1929 West Market Street, Akron,Ohio 44313 or online at oneofakindpets.com

Daisy

Hi I'm Daisy... you haven't met a sweeter, relaxed, and highly agreeable dog until you've met me. I haven’t had hardly any human interaction but somehow I know that humans are supposed to love us and I want to know that love. I came from a hoarding situation, so I've been around lots of dogs and I see them as my friends. I'm very quiet and not demanding at all. Petting me is something that I have newly experienced and I like it too. I need someone who doesn't mind that I move a little slow … there is nothing wrong with me … I’m just that mild. And, I nap a lot too : ). Don't worry about my fur coat. I was shaved due to matting and it is growing back beautifully. Would you change my life forever and show me the love of humanity? I'd be sooooooo grateful :)

Einstein the Beagle

My name is Einstein and I am one very fun beagle! I haven't had it easy so far, but they say that things are looking up for me now. After being neglected and ignored before coming to OOAKP, I contracted heartworm. I have been treated for the illness and I am recovering nicely in the shelter. If you don't know about heartworm, the two most important things about it is that it's NOT contagious and that keeping up-to-date on all vaccines and other meds with any pet is the best way to prevent it. I'm glad to be in a safe place that takes care of me, however, I'm anxious to learn what a real home is like. You should probably know a few things about me before you come and meet me! I am so playful... I love toys and playing outside with other dogs and humans. They've tried me with a lot of dogs here, from young to old, and I get along with all of them :) Even with this unfortunate past, I am still one of the happiest boys at the shelter, and I would do great in just about any kind of family. So don't delay, come visit me today... I won't be here long with this face :)
