My name is Einstein and I am one very fun beagle! I haven't had it easy so far, but they say that things are looking up for me now. After being neglected and ignored before coming to OOAKP, I contracted heartworm. I have been treated for the illness and I am recovering nicely in the shelter. If you don't know about heartworm, the two most important things about it is that it's NOT contagious and that keeping up-to-date on all vaccines and other meds with any pet is the best way to prevent it. I'm glad to be in a safe place that takes care of me, however, I'm anxious to learn what a real home is like. You should probably know a few things about me before you come and meet me! I am so playful... I love toys and playing outside with other dogs and humans. They've tried me with a lot of dogs here, from young to old, and I get along with all of them :) Even with this unfortunate past, I am still one of the happiest boys at the shelter, and I would do great in just about any kind of family. Now, I'm more than just a handsome face, I have a great personality. Which is surprising due to my unfortunate past. I came in with Joelle (a little miniature pincher). We were left at an empty house much to the new owners surprise. Both of us were emaciated and in need of care. It's nice to be in a foster home where I am wanted and loved, but I know there's a “forever home” out there for me. I love toys beyond belief! Fetch is a lot of fun... but I can also entertain myself for a long time, especially with a tennis ball, my favorite toy ever! I know that I have to go in a crate when you go out and I am happy to do so, but I do enjoy sleeping in the same room as you - either in my own bed on the floor or your bed will work for me too. I get along with most other dogs, but I am dominant... however, once I'm put in my place and know my boundaries, I'm a good boy. I know some basic commands like sit and shake, and I'm trying very hard to catch on to lay down. My foster mom says I walk best when using an easy-walk harness because without it, I'm a bit of a puller. The best part about me is that I love to cuddle, and, unfortunately, I don't know my own size... I think I was supposed to be a lap dog. I just want to be with humans … and toys!
